Magic of Persia: Art Events in LA and NY
In 2014, MOP approached artists from around the globe to support its cause for a brighter tomorrow in which Iranian creativity is permitted to flourish alongside other nations. A non-political, non-religious UK based charity, MOP seeks to serve as an important portal through which Iranian artists can continue to achieve both their artistic potential and professional aspirations, hence the event’s tagline: Inspiration/Insistence, Aspiration/Persistence.
With the support of some of the most globally recognised names in contemporary art MOP will host a series of dynamic events across Los Angeles and New York City. The donated artworks will be on display at the Sotheby’s Los Angeles exhibition space, and open to the public from 16-18 September 2014.
On Tuesday 16 September 2014 a Cocktail Reception and Private View of the exhibition will be open to the public from 7-9pm.
Wednesday 17 September 2014 will see the launch of Iran: RPM Vol. 2, published by MOP and edited by Ali Bakhtiari, alongside Issue 3 of B|ta’arof and Omid Walizadeh’s LP, Modern Persian Speech Sounds, at the Levantine Cultural Center. This event is generously sponsored by the Levantine Cultural Center and the Farhang Foundation.
Lastly, the remaining twelve donated artworks will be included in the Sotheby’s New York Contemporary Sale Exhibition from Friday 7 – Tuesday 11 November 2014, and subsequently auctioned by Sotheby’s in the New York Contemporary Day Sale on 12 November 2014.
